Pirate Wax Seal
We used a wax seal for the top of our bottle invites with the letter S on it that we found at a craft store - I just ran across this on Etsy though and thought this was a nice alternative too!

Message In A Bottle Invitations
Invitations
We used messages in bottles for our invitations. I ordered the plastic bottles & corks from a sand art company online. You can also find glass bottles, which are more authentic, but do cost more to ship and require a box to be shipped in. Plastic bottles do not need a box to be shipped in. You can place the address label and stamp right on the bottle and mail it that way. Just think how neat that must be for your guests to find in their mail when it arrives! It cost around 60 cents each to send them in 2006, but please check with USPS for current rates. Also, if you add sand or various other items, it will weigh more, therefore making it cost more.
This is what we did for ours: I found a pirate map online and the wording in the invitation as well. We printed the map invitation on 5x7 parchment paper and then burned the edges with a wood burning tool (can be purchased from a craft store for under $10). We then rolled them up tightly and tied them with gold ribbon. We placed them in the bottles and sealed them with gold wax (also can be purchased from a craft store). On top of each cork we stamped the letter S (our last name) in gold wax. They are certainly gorgeous when they are finished and everyone was so excited when their invitations arrived!

Party or Wedding Favor Idea: Map Cups with Gold Coins
So when I was a kid I was in love with Lamp Chop and I remember one craft she taught that I thought was really cool. She made these super easy and cute little paper cups. I was thinking how awesome would it be if you made the paper cups with either a printed pirate map scrapbook paper or a rustic looking map paper, and then fill them up with candy coin coins. I think that would be pretty cool!!
NOTE: If you already have paper in the shape of a square, skip ahead to step 5.
STEP: 1
Gather the paper you want to use and a pair of scissors. Make sure to assist small children when cutting.
STEP: 2
Place the paper in front of you horizontally (long ways). Take the right hand corner of the page and fold it down so that you create an even triangle. (Refer to picture for better idea on how to fold).
STEP: 3
You should have a long retangle left over on the left hand of the paper. Fold it over to create a crease. Your paper should look slightly like a sail boat now.
STEP: 4
Now unfold everything, so that you have an 8x10 again. You will need to cut the long retangle off now. Looking at the picture, cut where the red dotted lines are.
STEP: 5
You now have a perfect square to make the cup! Fold the square back over creating a triangle.
STEP: 6-9
Now fold the left hand point over until it touches the other side of the triangle. Next do the same with the right hand corner.
The top point is two pieces of paper, one on the front and one on the back. Pull down the front piece and fold down. Now turn over the cup and do the same with the back top point.
You now have your cup!!
Now it's time for fun! Decorate your cups with crayons, markers, glitter, stickers - whatever your creative mind can come up with!

Photo Booth Pirate Props
Photo booths for weddings are the new fad - and why not? Who doesn't like acting silly and having proof to take home of it. I came across some interesting ideas for your photo booth!
BACK DROPS:
If you don't want to use whatever generic one your booth comes with you can easily find a cute fabric at a place like Joann's or even online that you find more fitting.
I like red and white stripes would be very fitting, or a large pirate flag or even a pirate map fabric like this one!

PROPS
There are the obvious ones, like pirate hats, and eye patches. For the ladies wigs, jewels, pearls, and things like that would be nice.
You can also try some cute handmade props like this one from etsy:
